1. Who you're contracting with
RVTC LTD ("we", "us", "Sentinel"), a company registered in England and Wales. Contact: hello@sentinelapp.solar.
2. What you get
- Watch tier — free monitoring software and dashboard, provided as-is.
- Guard tier — £1/month, self-serve remote settings control. Billed monthly via Stripe.
- Settings change — £25 per request, engineer makes a configured change for you.
- Diagnostic — £75 per fault, engineer writes a summary and recommendation.
- Remedial — quoted by Solar Tech Support; separate STS terms apply to the work.
3. Your responsibilities
- You confirm you own (or have authority to manage) the GivEnergy inverter you connect to Sentinel.
- You won't use Sentinel to access systems you don't have permission to access.
- You're responsible for keeping your pairing code, account credentials, and payment details secure.
- You won't reverse-engineer the agent or attempt to bypass the customer-armed write-window controls.
4. Our responsibilities
- We'll make reasonable commercial efforts to keep Sentinel available, but we don't promise 100% uptime. Watch is provided as-is; paid tiers carry a target of 99% monthly availability.
- We won't change your inverter settings without your explicit consent (an armed engineer-access window, or a Settings-change order you've placed).
- We'll tell you within 72 hours if we become aware of a security incident affecting your data.
- We won't sell your data to third parties — ever.
5. Inverter changes — DNO compliance
Some inverter settings (export limit, anti-islanding, ROCOF) are protected by your DNO connection agreement under G98 / G99. Sentinel will refuse to change these without an additional confirmation step in which you confirm the change is within your DNO agreement. You remain responsible for ensuring your inverter is operating within its connection agreement.
6. Payment
- Guard is billed monthly in advance via Stripe. Cancel any time from your dashboard; service continues to the end of the current billing period.
- Settings change and Diagnostic are invoiced via Stripe at the time of service.
- Remedial work is invoiced by Solar Tech Support under STS's terms.
- All prices include UK VAT.
7. Refunds
If a Settings change or Diagnostic doesn't deliver what we promised, contact us within 30 days and we'll refund or re-do it. Guard is cancellable any time — no pro-rata refunds for partial months, but no contract either.
7a. What happens to your data if you cancel
Cancelling a paid tier doesn't immediately delete your historical data — we hold it read-only for a grace window in case you re-subscribe:
- Guard → Watch: 90-day grace. After 90 days your historical telemetry is permanently deleted; your account remains on the free Watch tier (real-time only).
- Strategist → Guard or Watch: 12-month grace on the system-lifetime data. After 12 months it drops to the Guard 12-month rolling policy (or full deletion if you've downgraded to Watch).
- Uninstalling the agent / 365 days of inactivity: we warn you by email at 305 days. At 365 days the account and all telemetry are permanently deleted under UK GDPR data-minimisation.
You can re-subscribe at any point during the grace window and pick up exactly where you left off. After the grace window, deletion is irreversible.
8. Liability
We're not liable for: damage caused by changes you've authorised that fall outside your DNO agreement; loss of generation revenue or feed-in tariff payments; consequential losses (lost work, lost time, etc.). Our maximum liability for a paid service is the amount you paid us in the previous 12 months. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death, personal injury, fraud, or anything else that can't be limited under UK law.
9. Termination
You can stop using Sentinel at any time — uninstall the agent and your data stops flowing. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms, with reasonable notice except in cases of urgent risk.
10. Changes to these terms
We'll email you 30 days before any material change to terms or prices. Continued use after the notice period counts as acceptance.
11. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes go to the courts of England and Wales.
